The Role: Full Stack Software Engineer (Bitcoin DeFi)

As a Full Stack Engineer at IO Global, the successful candidate will contribute to building high-quality, production-ready software that powers Bitcoin DeFi applications.

The role involves close collaboration with engineering, research, and product teams to design, develop, and deploy secure systems. Backend development will focus on Rust, while frontend applications will be built with TypeScript and React.

This position offers a unique opportunity to work on products that merge academic research with real-world impact, within a diverse and global remote-first environment

Key Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the Full Stack Software Engineer include:

  • Designing and developing high-quality software across the stack, from backend APIs in Rust to frontend interfaces in React.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional, global teams across multiple time zones to bring research-driven ideas to life.
  • Writing clean, efficient, and well-tested code, including unit, property, and integration tests.
  • Contributing to the design of secure and scalable backend architectures.
  • Participating in peer code reviews to maintain clarity, consistency, and performance.
  • Troubleshooting and optimizing performance issues, as well as modernizing legacy systems when required.
  • Integrating third-party APIs and distributed systems to deliver powerful new features.
  • Documenting code and providing technical writing support for the team.

Requirements

The ideal candidate should possess:

  • 3+ years of experience with TypeScript/JavaScript for frontend development.
  • Solid Rust programming experience for backend systems.
  • Practical knowledge of React (or Vue), HTML, CSS, and SASS/LESS.
  • Proficiency with Docker, NPM, and Webpack.
  • Understanding of SQL/NoSQL databases and backend architecture.
  • Familiarity with Git workflows and Agile methodologies.
  • Strong debugging, optimization, and troubleshooting skills across client-server systems.
  • A solid understanding of security best practices.
  • Fluent communication skills in English.
  • A degree in Computer Science or a related field (preferred).
  • Awareness of UX and accessibility principles (an advantage).

The company is now seeking a Blockchain Architect to join its global, remote-first engineering team. This individual will serve as the technical bridge between business goals and cutting-edge blockchain solutions, guiding both clients and developers toward the best possible outcomes.

About the Role

The Blockchain Architect will act as Protofire’s technical backbone in client-facing engagements. Working closely with sales, engineering teams, and customers, the role involves designing secure, scalable, and innovative blockchain architectures while ensuring alignment on goals, timelines, and deliverables.

From discovery and strategy through design and delivery, the Blockchain Architect will shape everything from technical roadmaps and proposals to smart contract structures and dApp infrastructure.

This position is suited for a professional who combines deep blockchain engineering expertise with the ability to communicate complex concepts with clarity.

Key Responsibilities

Discovery & Strategy: Lead discovery sessions to capture client goals, constraints, and pain points, translating them into clear requirements and success metrics.

Solution Design: Architect secure, efficient blockchain solutions while documenting assumptions, risks, and trade-offs.

Collaboration: Work alongside sales and product teams to align on customer needs, delivery estimates, and roadmap implications.

Proposal Development: Build detailed technical proposals outlining scope, milestones, pricing, and acceptance criteria.

Technical Leadership: Participate in technical negotiations, address objections, and deliver demos and clarifications.

Documentation: Provide thorough architecture documentation, API specifications, and non-functional requirements for seamless handovers.

Market Research: Track industry trends, monitor competitors, and identify opportunities or risks within adjacent technologies.

Community Engagement: Engage in Web3 communities on platforms such as Discord, GitHub, and X, contributing to open-source projects and fostering community feedback.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Blockchain Architect, Engineer, or in a similar role.
  • Hands-on experience with on-chain tools, wallets, and DeFi or governance participation.
  • Active public presence in community platforms such as Discord, GitHub, or X (Twitter).
  • Proven track record in shipping or maintaining open-source infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge of L1/L2 ecosystems (Ethereum, Polkadot, Cardano, etc.).
  • Expertise in smart contract design and deployment (Solidity, Web3.js).
  • Solid understanding of cryptographic primitives, key management, wallet security, and multisig/custodial systems.
  • Full-stack literacy, with the ability to evaluate backend and frontend code.
  • Familiarity with Agile/SCRUM methodologies and backlog management.
  • Excellent communication skills for conveying complex Web3 concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Bonus experience includes DeFi platform architecture, audit execution, or protocol governance contributions.
