ABUJA—Techparley Africa, a Pan-African newsroom focused on business, innovation and youth employment, has partnered with career development platform Career Tower to launch the Career Kickstarter Masterclass, a practical training and mentorship program aimed at reducing unemployment among Nigerian graduates.

The partnership was signed at the Techparley office in Abuja on Friday, May 22, 2026, with both parties pledging to support unemployed youth under the scheme.

The Vacuum of Tertiary Education

According to Career Tower director Layi Aremu, the partnership addressed a persistent gap in Nigeria’s education-to-employment pipeline.

He noted that while universities regularly hold career awareness programmes, these events often stop at listing potential employers without equipping students with the strategies needed to secure roles after graduation.

“Most graduates leave school knowing where they could work, but not how to position themselves as the candidate employers want,” Career Tower director, Layi Aremu said. “That disconnect is why we see qualified young people remain unemployed for years.”

Career Kickstarter Masterclass

The Career Kickstarter Masterclass is designed to close that gap. The curriculum covers the full job acquisition process, including ATS-compliant CV revamp, LinkedIn optimization, employability gap audits, cold pitching, and networking strategies suited to the current job market.

The session will be led by a facilitator with experience across government, corporate and non-governmental organizations in Nigeria and internationally.

Beyond the classroom, Career Tower noted that all registered participants will be placed on a two-month mentorship scheme. The programme includes support with CV and LinkedIn optimization, employability gap analysis, and direct exposure to top recruiters in the country.

Who is Eligible?

The initiative is targeted at corps members, recent graduates, and students nearing completion of their studies. Organizers say it is also open to individuals who have stepped away from the job search and want to realign with their career goals.

How to Benefit from the Subsidy

To make the program accessible, Techparley Africa has provided a subsidy that reduces the participation fee from ₦50,000 to ₦9,500. The subsidized rate is available for a limited time, and organizers say fees will be reviewed upward after the cohort.

“This is part of our commitment to job creation and youth employment across Africa,” Techparley Africa said in a statement. “When participants succeed, it motivates us to do more for the community.”

Career Tower said the cohort will also serve as a model for future programmes, with participant success stories used to inspire and inform subsequent trainings.

Registration

Registration for the special cohort is now open. Organizers encourage early sign-up, noting that participants are expected to commit fully to the sessions to maximize the impact of the mentorship component.
