Ghanaian technology startup, myAlert is expanding its footprint in artificial intelligence with a portfolio of products designed to address challenges across entertainment, professional development, agriculture and document management.
Founded by Benjamin Etrue, the startup is taking a lean, product-focused approach to developing software in Ghana for users in global markets.
Its flagship product, QueristAI (QAi), combines competitive trivia with personalised learning through an AI-powered platform already available on iOS and Android.
The company is also developing products for event assistance, document intelligence and precision agriculture as it pursues a broader expansion strategy.
According to Etrue, myAlert’s approach is straightforward, that’s to “identify an underserved problem, build AI into the core of the solution rather than as an afterthought, and ship something real from Ghana, for the world.”
What is myAlert and what does it do?
myAlert is a Ghanaian technology startup founded by Benjamin Etrue that develops AI-powered products for different sectors and user needs.
Rather than concentrating on one application, the company is building a portfolio covering consumer entertainment, professional development, agriculture and document intelligence.
The startup operates with a lean structure, combining technical development with a product-first approach intended to move ideas from concept to usable software. Its ambition extends beyond Ghana, with its products designed for African and international markets.
Etrue said the company’s philosophy across its products remains consistent, explaining that myAlert seeks to identify underserved problems and place AI “at the core of the solution rather than as an afterthought.”
The approach reflects the startup’s broader ambition of demonstrating that globally relevant AI products can be built and launched from Ghana.
What products is myAlert building?
myAlert currently has four major products at different stages of development. Its flagship product, QueristAI, or QAi, is an AI-powered trivia and adaptive learning platform available on iOS and Android.
Passso is an AI-powered fan concierge designed to assist users at events, while Koppywrite AI is a software-as-a-service document intelligence platform that enables users to interact with PDF documents by asking questions, generating summaries and querying information.
The fourth product, Agricon, is a precision agriculture platform currently under development.
Together, the products demonstrate myAlert’s attempt to apply AI across multiple industries rather than limiting its technology to a single use case.
The company says the common thread is its focus on finding specific problems and building practical AI solutions that can serve users beyond the Ghanaian market.
How QAi combines trivia with professional learning
QAi is positioned as myAlert’s most distinctive product because it attempts to bring together two areas that the company believes have largely operated separately, competitive trivia entertainment and professional continuing education.
Existing platforms such as Kahoot, Trivia Crack and Quizizz are primarily associated with quizzes and entertainment, while professional education platforms tend to focus on compliance and certification.
Etrue argues that neither category adequately combines engagement with professional development.
“No platform currently bridges these two worlds,” he said.
QAi uses a multi-agentic retrieval-augmented generation system to create dynamic quiz experiences based on real document context.
This means the platform can use relevant information to generate personalised questions rather than relying solely on fixed question banks. The company believes this approach could make professional learning more interactive, accessible and engaging.
QAi targets West Africa before global expansion
Although QAi is available globally through the Apple App Store and Google Play, myAlert says it has recorded its strongest organic traction in Ghana and Cameroon, with early reach into the United Arab Emirates.
The startup’s immediate priority is to deepen its presence across English-speaking West Africa, which it considers an attractive market because of increasing mobile usage and growing interest in professional certifications.
Etrue said the region is “a fast-growing market with strong mobile-first behaviour and rising professional certification rates that incumbent platforms have largely ignored.”
Beyond West Africa, the company plans to expand across Africa, the UAE, Europe and the United States.
This geographic strategy suggests that myAlert views its African origins as an advantage rather than a limitation, using the region as an initial market before pursuing broader international adoption.
myAlert eyes professional certification and global opportunities
myAlert’s expansion strategy is built around both geographic and vertical growth, with professional certification representing a major opportunity for QAi.
The company is considering integration with professional bodies such as ISACA and ACCA, which could potentially connect the platform to a much larger international community of professionals.
Such integration would allow QAi to move beyond being simply a trivia or learning application and become part of the continuing professional education ecosystem.
Etrue believes this could be particularly valuable among the African diaspora, where professional credentialing is expanding and interest in African-built technology products is growing.
The startup has so far been bootstrapped, meaning it has developed its products without relying on significant external funding.
Its next phase will therefore centre on expanding its user base, strengthening its products and turning its AI-powered portfolio into globally competitive businesses originating from Ghana.
