Egypt-based AI-powered e-commerce operations platform, Fincart, has secured an oversubscribed $2.8 million Seed funding round. This marks a significant milestone in its pursuit to transform how online merchants manage logistics, customer engagement, financing, and day-to-day business operations across Africa and the Middle East.
The investment, co-led by Launch Africa and Antler MENAP with participation from Yango Ventures, Five35 Ventures, Bluestream Capital, Hi2 Global, Kalahari Venture Labs, and other regional investors.
Founded in 2023 by Mostafa Masry and Nihal Ali, Fincart has rapidly evolved from a logistics integration platform into a comprehensive AI-powered operating system serving online merchants.
Commenting on the milestone, Fincart Chief Executive Officer, Mostafa Masry, expressed appreciation for the investors’ confidence in the company’s long-term vision.
“We are grateful for the confidence our investors have placed in our vision, product, and long-term goals, and their support will enable us to accelerate our mission of transforming e-commerce operations across the region.”
The announcement underscores increasing investor interest in startups building the foundational infrastructure powering digital commerce rather than merely consumer-facing marketplaces.
What Does Fincart Do?
Fincart describes itself as an AI-powered operating system built specifically for e-commerce merchants. Rather than requiring businesses to rely on multiple disconnected software tools, the platform consolidates several operational functions into a single interface.
Through the platform, merchants can manage shipping operations, monitor deliveries, engage customers, access short-term financing, reconcile payments, and automate several repetitive business processes using artificial intelligence.
One of Fincart’s strongest competitive advantages is its integration with more than 40 courier companies, making it one of Africa’s largest integrated shipping networks for online merchants. This allows businesses to choose the most efficient delivery providers while reducing delays associated with logistics management.
The company also deploys AI-powered tools to automate customer engagement, improve retention, optimize delivery performance, and increase online sales, enabling merchants to focus more on growing their businesses than on manual operational tasks.
Explaining the philosophy behind the platform, Co-founder and Chief Operating Officer Nihal Ali said the company was built after observing merchants struggling with fragmented technology solutions.
“Everything we build starts with sitting down with merchants and understanding where they’re losing time, money, or customers. Most are juggling five or six disconnected tools just to run their business, shipping, payments, customer engagement, none of which talk to each other.”
“We built Fincart to replace all of that with a single control panel where merchants can sell more, deliver faster, and manage their customers, without the friction of stitching tools together,” Nihal added.
How Fincart Originally Evolved
Fincart’s journey began with a much narrower focus. At launch in 2023, the startup primarily connected online merchants with last-mile delivery providers, helping businesses improve shipping efficiency while simplifying payment reconciliation processes.
However, as the founders gained deeper insights into merchants’ operational pain points, the company expanded beyond logistics into a full-scale AI-powered operating platform.
Today, the solution combines logistics management, customer engagement, financing services, workflow automation, and intelligent business tools under one ecosystem.
The founders say the company’s evolution was driven by firsthand experience with the operational challenges confronting e-commerce businesses across Egypt and the broader Middle East and Africa (MEA) region.
According to the company, poor last-mile delivery services and delays in reconciling cash collected from deliveries remain major obstacles to sustainable e-commerce growth in markets where digital payments are still developing.
How the Money Will Be Used
The newly secured Seed funding will support several strategic priorities aimed at strengthening Fincart’s market position.
The company plans to invest heavily in expanding its AI-powered platform, hiring additional engineering and commercial talent, strengthening partnerships with logistics providers and ecosystem players, and improving its technological infrastructure.
Beyond product development, the funding will also support preparations for expansion into new African and Middle Eastern markets beginning in 2027.
Masry emphasized that the company’s broader objective extends beyond building software.
“E-commerce in Egypt and across MEA doesn’t grow because of any one company; it grows because merchants, courier companies, and the platforms connecting them all get better together.”
“With our strategy focused on strengthening the e-commerce ecosystem, this investment will enable us to deepen our partnerships, enhance our AI-powered platform, expand our infrastructure, and accelerate our growth across Africa and the Middle East,” he added.
What Do “Cash Advances” and “Cash on Delivery” Mean?
One of Fincart’s distinguishing offerings is providing cash advances to merchants. A cash advance is a short-term financing facility that allows businesses to access working capital before receiving payments from completed sales.
Instead of waiting several days or weeks for customer payments to arrive, merchants can obtain immediate funding based on their sales history, helping them restock inventory, fulfill new orders, and maintain healthy cash flow.
This service is particularly valuable because much of e-commerce in Egypt and several African markets still relies heavily on Cash on Delivery (CoD).
Cash on Delivery is a payment method where customers pay for products only after receiving them, rather than making payment online before shipment.
Although popular among consumers, CoD often creates financial and operational challenges for merchants because courier companies collect payments first before transferring the funds back to sellers. This process can delay access to working capital and complicate financial reconciliation.
Fincart’s platform automates these reconciliation processes while also providing merchants with financing solutions that reduce the financial pressure associated with delayed payments.
How Does Fincart Stand Out?
Several factors distinguish Fincart from many startups operating in Africa’s growing e-commerce technology ecosystem.
First, the company has achieved remarkable organic growth without spending on marketing. According to the company, approximately 40 percent of new customer acquisitions come through referrals, highlighting strong customer satisfaction and product-market fit.
Second, Fincart has onboarded more than 450 merchants and enterprise clients spanning industries such as fashion, cosmetics, accessories, and electronics.
Third, the platform has already facilitated close to EGP 1 billion (approximately $20 million) in product GMV through its automated workflows, significantly reducing manual order processing and payment reconciliation for merchants.
These achievements convinced investors that the company has built an essential operational platform for online businesses.
Commenting on the investment, Lina Kacyem, Investment Manager at Launch Africa, said Egypt’s e-commerce ecosystem presents a significant infrastructure opportunity.
“Egypt’s e-commerce market is one of Africa’s most compelling infrastructure opportunities: high-volume, CoD-dominant, and deeply underserved at the SME level.”
She praised the founders for building a product merchants increasingly depend on.
“The organic, referral-driven growth tells you everything about product-market fit, and we’re excited to support Fincart’s expansion across Egypt and into new African markets as co-lead investors in this round.”
Why This Matters for Business Growth
Fincart’s latest funding reflects a broader shift in Africa’s technology ecosystem, where investors are increasingly backing startups that solve the operational challenges behind digital commerce rather than focusing solely on consumer marketplaces.
As e-commerce continues to expand across Africa and the Middle East, merchants require integrated technology capable of managing logistics, payments, financing, customer engagement, and business intelligence from a single platform.
By combining artificial intelligence with logistics infrastructure, embedded finance, and workflow automation, Fincart is positioning itself as a foundational technology provider for online merchants.
If the company successfully executes its expansion strategy, it could play a pivotal role in shaping the next phase of e-commerce infrastructure development across Africa and the MENA region.
