The British High Commission has announced the launch of a new Visa Application Centre (VAC) in Ikeja, Lagos, in partnership with VFS Global, its new commercial service provider.
British Deputy High Commissioner Jonny Baxter confirmed the development, in a statement seen by this correspondent on Friday, November 29, 2025, where he expressed the UK’s commitment to enhancing visa services for Nigerian travellers.
Speaking at the launch event, Mr Baxter described Nigeria as one of the UK’s key partners, expressing optimism about the quality of service VFS Global would provide.
“We hope that VFS will deliver ever-improving services for those applying for visas to the UK,” he said.
Techparley gathered that VFS Global has also established VACs in Abuja and Victoria Island, Lagos.

Nigerians wishing to visit the UK can now book appointments to submit visa applications at the newly inaugurated centre in Ikeja.
According to the British High Commission, VFS Global is expected to operate Visa Application Centres in 31 countries across Africa.

These centres will offer a range of services, including document upload assistance, out-of-hours application submission, SMS updates, document verification, and courier return of passports once decisions are made.
Applicants in Abuja can take advantage of the new on-demand mobile visa service, allowing them to submit applications from their homes, offices, or other preferred locations.
