Nigerian startup FromAfricaB2B has launched a digital sourcing and trade platform designed to connect African manufacturers directly with buyers, distributors, retailers, and sourcing professionals across international markets.
Founded in 2025 by Nigerian entrepreneur Ukpabio Juliet Archibong, the platform aims to address a longstanding challenge facing African manufacturers, limited visibility in global supply chains despite growing production capacity across the continent.
The company provides a dedicated marketplace where manufacturers can showcase their products, production capabilities, certifications, and export readiness to potential buyers worldwide.
By creating a platform focused exclusively on African manufacturing, FromAfricaB2B hopes to simplify cross-border trade and help international buyers discover verified suppliers across sectors ranging from food and beverages to fashion, cosmetics, wellness, and consumer goods.
“Our mission is to increase visibility for African manufacturing and make it easier for global buyers to source directly from the continent,” Archibong said.
What is FromAfricaB2B and What Does It Do?
FromAfricaB2B is a digital business-to-business (B2B) sourcing and trade platform that serves as a bridge between African manufacturers and international buyers.
The platform allows manufacturers from across Africa to create profiles that highlight their products, manufacturing capacity, certifications, export capabilities, and business credentials, making it easier for overseas buyers to evaluate and connect with suppliers.
Unlike conventional online marketplaces that cater to businesses from every region of the world, FromAfricaB2B is designed specifically for African manufacturers.
The platform provides buyers with a streamlined way to identify suppliers based on country, industry, product category, and manufacturing expertise.
The startup’s broader vision is to strengthen Africa’s participation in global trade by giving local manufacturers greater exposure to international markets and helping them compete more effectively on the global stage.
What Problem is It Trying to Solve?
The idea behind FromAfricaB2B emerged from a personal experience that prompted Archibong to rethink how opportunities can be created across borders.
According to her, the inspiration came from feeling constrained by passport-related limitations while recognising that Africa’s long-term economic growth may depend more on expanding trade relationships than on migration.
The founder noted that despite the existence of numerous global sourcing platforms, African manufacturers often struggle to gain visibility and attract buyers.
“While there are many global sourcing platforms, African manufacturers often remain underrepresented, difficult to discover, or grouped within broader international marketplaces where they struggle to gain visibility,” Archibong said.
This challenge has contributed to a situation where many capable African manufacturers remain largely invisible to international procurement teams, distributors, and retailers seeking new suppliers.
To address this gap, the startup created a dedicated platform that places African businesses at the centre of the sourcing experience.
“We identified a need for a dedicated platform focused specifically on African manufacturing, helping buyers discover suppliers by country, product category and manufacturing capability,” she added.
How Does the Platform Work?
The platform operates as a digital marketplace where manufacturers and buyers can discover one another more efficiently.
Manufacturers can create profiles showcasing their product offerings, factory capabilities, certifications, quality standards, export readiness, and production capacities.
These profiles serve as digital storefronts that allow potential buyers to assess suppliers before initiating business discussions.
On the buyer side, businesses can search for verified manufacturers across multiple African countries and industries. Buyers can filter suppliers based on product categories, geographic location, and manufacturing capabilities, enabling them to identify suitable partners more quickly than through traditional sourcing methods.
By reducing information barriers and increasing transparency, the platform seeks to streamline supplier discovery and facilitate new trade relationships between African producers and international markets.
How is It Different From Other Platforms?
The startup enters a competitive market that already includes major international sourcing platforms such as Alibaba and other global supplier directories.
However, Archibong believes the company’s focus on African manufacturing gives it a distinct advantage.
“The competition includes large global sourcing platforms such as Alibaba Group and other international sourcing directories. However, FromAfricaB2B differentiates itself by focusing exclusively on African manufacturing and trade opportunities,” she said.
This specialised approach means African manufacturers are no longer competing for visibility among millions of suppliers from around the world.
Instead, they are showcased within a marketplace designed specifically to highlight African products, capabilities, and export opportunities.
The company believes this targeted positioning can make it easier for buyers seeking African suppliers to identify relevant businesses while helping manufacturers gain greater exposure.
What Products Does the Platform Support?
FromAfricaB2B currently supports manufacturers across a diverse range of industries that reflect some of Africa’s strongest production sectors.
These include food and beverage products, cosmetics, beauty products, textiles, fashion, wellness products, home goods, and a variety of consumer products.
The broad sector coverage allows the platform to attract manufacturers with different production capabilities while giving international buyers access to a wider selection of African-made goods.
According to Archibong, early interest has already emerged from businesses operating across several of these sectors.
“We have received interest from businesses across sectors including beauty, cosmetics, food production, fashion, textiles and wellness,” she said.
Market Traction and Expansion Plans
Although the startup remains founder-funded, it has already recorded encouraging early traction.
The company has onboarded manufacturers from multiple African countries, secured partnerships and engagement with trade-focused organisations, and attracted interest from international buyers seeking sourcing opportunities beyond Africa.
“The company is currently focused on growth and market validation before pursuing additional funding opportunities,” Archibong said.
Manufacturers from countries including Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, and Rwanda have already joined the platform as it continues its onboarding and growth phase.
Looking ahead, FromAfricaB2B plans to intensify buyer acquisition efforts across key international markets, particularly the United Kingdom, Europe, North America, and the Middle East.
The startup also intends to expand its network of African manufacturers while strengthening global buyer outreach through trade partnerships, industry events, and strategic collaborations.
“Expansion plans include increasing manufacturer representation across Africa and strengthening buyer outreach internationally through trade partnerships, industry events and strategic collaborations,” Archibong said.
