DesignFiles, a leading interior design project management software, is seeking a Front-End Rails Developer with strong JavaScript and UI expertise to help develop intuitive creative tools that empower over 5,500 designers across the globe.

About the Role

The successful candidate will play a key role in transforming DesignFiles’ Design/Presentation Editor into a modern, Canva-style interface tailored for interior designers.

The platform will include moodboards, templates, room mockups, and client-ready presentations. This position requires both technical proficiency and design intuition, contributing to the creation of seamless, visually engaging creative tools.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and refine UI components for interactive features such as drag-and-drop, snapping, layering, and on-canvas editing.
  • Collaborate with product and design teams to deliver intuitive, high-performance workflows.
  • Enhance the editor’s architecture to ensure scalability, speed, and maintainability.
  • Deliver a polished, design-centric user experience inspired by tools like Figma and Canva.

Qualifications

  • Strong skills in vanilla JavaScript and CSS (experience with Tailwind CSS is an advantage).
  • Familiarity with Stimulus.js, Turbo, Hotwire, and ViewComponents.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in Ruby on Rails development.
  • Prior experience developing or contributing to browser-based design or visual tools is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills and a strong sense of ownership.
