Following the success of its inaugural cohort, the RevUp Women Initiative has launched a Nigeria edition aimed at empowering 150 women-led businesses across Lagos, Abuja, and Abia.
Focused on agribusiness and e-commerce, the programme blends enterprise development, strategic mentorship, and funding access to help women scale sustainable ventures and drive economic inclusion.
Spearheaded by AfriLabs in partnership with the Visa Foundation, the initiative equips participants with tailored training and links them to a network of successful female entrepreneurs. Six standout participants will receive a combined grant of $24,000 to support their business growth.
Nanko Madu, AfriLabs’ Director of Programmes, emphasized the transformative power of intentional support.
“We’ve watched ideas turn into impactful ventures through access to the right tools and networks. This next phase doubles down on inclusivity, ensuring more women have visibility and the capacity to become key players in Africa’s innovation ecosystem,” she said.
About RevUp Women and What They Are Doing
RevUp Women is a flagship initiative launched in 2023 by AfriLabs, in partnership with the Visa Foundation, to empower women entrepreneurs across Africa.
The programme supports women-led businesses through enterprise development, strategic mentorship, and access to funding and resources. By focusing on innovation, scalability, and community-driven solutions, RevUp Women aims to close the gender gap in entrepreneurship and boost inclusive economic growth across the continent.
Since its inception, RevUp Women has helped participants turn ideas into viable ventures, connecting them with experienced mentors and networks vital to long-term success.
What Is New and Why Does It Matter?
With about 459 women trained, 2,426 jobs created, 67 global mentors across 25 countries, 10 grant recipients ($10,000 each), and 29% additional secured funds, the initiative reflects AfriLabs’ broader commitment to strengthening Africa’s innovation ecosystem and ensuring that women are fully included in the continent’s economic future.
Because the first edition was successful, they’ve launched a special Nigeria edition. This new phase will support 150 women-owned businesses in Lagos, Abuja, and Abia, especially in agriculture and online commerce (e-commerce).
Experts believe that this programme and others like it empower women, and that when women are supported with the right tools, advice, and connections, their businesses grow stronger and help the economy. They also ensure that women are seen and included in Africa’s tech and business space.
What Will the Participants Get?
Training and mentorship from successful women entrepreneurs, a chance to connect with others and grow their business network, and six of them will win a share of $24,000 in grant money.
