The global speaker and strategic leadership expert, Sam Adeyemi, has lamented what he described as leadership strokes in Nigeria.
Adeyemi, who was a guest on Channels TV’s Sunrise Daily on Saturday, emphasized the importance of conscience in power.
Adeyemi was speaking to the recent happenings especially the unprecedented hardships occasioned by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s policies.
The pastor noted that competence and readiness to serve should be the major criteria to consider when electing people into power.
“Being a good man isn’t enough. Having a good character isn’t enough; you just have the skills and competence. Without character and integrity, we have sophisticated crooks. We have examples of countries in the middle that are monarchies yet they are developing. Because they have elite class that has conscience, one that feels for the people”, Dr Adeyemi said.
The expert also reminded politicians of the urgent need to reconsider their plans for the country, stressing it’s high time they committed themselves to the development of Nigeria.
“It is so sad that when we look at our elite class, it seems as if it can’t redeem itself. I am appealing to the people who have found themselves in the positions of power to have conscience. Africa is suffering. The country is suffering. It’s time to add conscience to that power.”
