Saudi Arabia-based logistics technology startup, Sirdab has raised $10 million (SAR 37.5 million) in Series A funding to accelerate its expansion across Saudi Arabia and the wider Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region.
The funding round was co-led by Elm, a Public Investment Fund (PIF)-backed digital solutions company, and existing investor BECO Capital, with participation from Y Combinator, COTU Ventures and D Global Ventures.
Founded in 2022, Sirdab is building a technology-driven logistics infrastructure that enables businesses to access and manage warehousing, transportation, inventory and orders through a single platform.
Commenting on the development, Sirdab co-founder and CEO Naif Alzahri said, “Sirdab gives them the infrastructure to grow on,” adding that the company makes “quality capacity accessible in days” while keeping logistics operations visible and service standards consistent.
What to Know About Sirdab
Founded in 2022 by Naif Alzahri and Abdulrahman Alnamlah, Sirdab is a logistics technology company designed to simplify the way businesses access and manage physical supply-chain infrastructure.
Rather than requiring companies to independently search for warehouses, negotiate with transportation providers and manage inventory across different locations, Sirdab brings these functions together through a single digital platform.
Businesses can use the platform to secure verified warehousing and transportation services, manage inventory and orders across multiple locations, and monitor service levels from one system.
At the same time, warehouse and transportation providers can use Sirdab’s software to standardise their operations, share available capacity, manage billing and handle compliance requirements.
The company therefore operates as a technology-enabled bridge connecting businesses that need logistics capacity with providers that have it, creating a more coordinated and visible logistics ecosystem.
Sirdab’s Growth and Expanding Logistics Network
The new funding comes as Sirdab reports significant growth since its participation in Y Combinator’s Winter 2023 batch.
According to the company, its revenue has increased 20-fold since graduating from the global startup accelerator, while it has also reached profitability.
More than 850 businesses currently use the platform, including major government entities, publicly listed companies and leading enterprises across multiple sectors.
Sirdab’s logistics network has also expanded to more than 120 warehouses and 60 transportation providers, covering dry, ambient, chilled and frozen logistics requirements.
This network allows businesses to obtain logistics capacity without necessarily having to build or own the infrastructure themselves.
Sirdab describes its model as asset-light, combining its network of third-party providers with strategically located company-operated facilities in key hubs.
Its proprietary software connects this distributed infrastructure into one system, giving customers greater flexibility and visibility as they expand.
How the $10m Will Drive Expansion and AI Development
Sirdab plans to deploy the newly raised $10 million towards expanding its presence across Saudi Arabia and entering more markets within the GCC, while simultaneously increasing the size and reach of its logistics network.
A major part of the investment will also go into strengthening the company’s technology platform, particularly its artificial intelligence capabilities.
Sirdab intends to use AI to match businesses with appropriate available warehouse and transportation capacity, potentially making it faster and more efficient for companies to find the logistics resources they require.
The technology will also be used to automate routine coordination between shippers, warehouses and carriers. In practical terms, this could reduce the amount of manual communication and administrative work required to coordinate the movement and storage of goods.
The strategy reflects Sirdab’s broader ambition to make its technology platform the infrastructure layer through which businesses can access logistics capacity as they scale across different cities and markets.
Sirdab Eyes Saudi Arabia and the GCC Logistics Market
Sirdab’s latest funding round signals a broader ambition to position the company as a major technology infrastructure provider within Saudi Arabia’s rapidly developing logistics ecosystem.
The company believes businesses operating in the Kingdom require more accessible, reliable and scalable logistics infrastructure as they expand into new cities, products and markets.
Alzahri said Saudi Arabia is “building one of the most dynamic logistics markets in the world,” arguing that businesses have significant opportunities for growth.
He explained that Sirdab aims to provide the infrastructure businesses need to pursue that growth by making “quality capacity accessible in days,” maintaining real-time operational visibility and ensuring consistent service standards.
With fresh backing from institutional and venture investors, Sirdab now has additional capital to expand its geographical footprint, deepen its provider network and improve its technology.
Its success will ultimately depend on whether it can maintain service quality and profitability while scaling across the highly competitive Saudi and wider GCC logistics markets.
