Egyptian Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machinery manufacturer Simplex is pushes to become a global industrial technology player after inaugurating its second manufacturing facility in 10th of Ramadan City as part of a $50 million expansion strategy.
The investment is expected to significantly increase production capacity, strengthen local manufacturing capabilities, create thousands of jobs and accelerate exports to regional and international markets.
During the inauguration, the company also broke ground on a third factory and unveiled its latest CNC machine under the “Proudly Made in Egypt” label. This underscores its ambition to transform Egypt into a leading hub for advanced industrial manufacturing.
“Our vision is to become a major player in the global CNC machinery manufacturing industry. This expansion marks a significant milestone toward that goal, empowering us to meet rising demand and strengthen our international presence,” said Mohamed Mansour, Co-founder and Chief Commercial Officer of Simplex.
Simplex: What It Does
Founded in 2013 by Ahmed Shaaban and Mohamed Mansour, Simplex has grown into one of Egypt’s leading industrial technology companies specializing in the assembly and manufacturing of Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machinery.
CNC machines are among the most critical technologies in modern manufacturing. Controlled by advanced computer systems, they automate the cutting, drilling, milling and shaping of metals, plastics and other industrial materials with remarkable precision.
These machines are widely used across industries including automotive manufacturing, aerospace, construction, electronics, furniture production and medical equipment manufacturing.
By producing these sophisticated machines domestically, Simplex is helping reduce dependence on imported industrial equipment while strengthening Egypt’s local manufacturing ecosystem.
Its operations also reflect the country’s growing ambition to compete in advanced manufacturing, an industry traditionally dominated by manufacturers in Europe and Asia.
A New Factory Designed to Double Production Capacity
The newly inaugurated manufacturing facility spans approximately 40,000 square meters, making it a significant addition to the company’s production infrastructure.
As Simplex’s second production facility, the factory has been designed to substantially increase manufacturing output while improving production efficiency and product quality.
According to the company, the expansion will double production capacity, improve manufacturing precision, shorten delivery timelines and reduce dependence on external suppliers.
Beyond production improvements, the investment is expected to generate more than 1,000 direct jobs alongside over 10,000 indirect employment opportunities, providing a major boost to Egypt’s industrial workforce and supporting broader economic development.
The expansion demonstrates growing confidence in Egypt’s ability to manufacture complex industrial machinery capable of competing in international markets.
Third Factory Signals Long-Term Industrial Ambitions
Simplex’s expansion plans extend well beyond its newly completed facility.
During the inauguration ceremony, the company officially laid the foundation stone for a third manufacturing factory, signaling that its long-term strategy focuses on continuous industrial expansion rather than incremental growth.
The event also marked the official launch of the company’s latest CNC machine under the “Proudly Made in Egypt” label, reinforcing its commitment to local manufacturing excellence and technological innovation.
Speaking on the company’s long-term ambitions, Mohamed Mansour stated:
“Our vision is to become a major player in the global CNC machinery manufacturing industry. This expansion marks a significant milestone toward that goal, empowering us to meet rising demand and strengthen our international presence.”
The statement highlights that Simplex’s strategy is not solely about increasing domestic production but also about establishing an internationally competitive manufacturing brand capable of serving customers across multiple regions.
Regional Partnerships Strengthen Export Ambitions
Alongside expanding its manufacturing footprint, Simplex is also broadening its commercial presence beyond Egypt.
As part of its regional growth strategy, the company signed new partnership and agency agreements in Jordan and Kuwait, creating stronger distribution channels across Arab markets.
These partnerships are expected to improve customer access to Simplex’s products while positioning the company to serve growing industrial demand across the Middle East.
The move reflects a broader strategy of combining increased production capacity with stronger regional market access, ensuring that expanded manufacturing capabilities are matched by wider commercial opportunities.
If successfully executed, these partnerships could significantly increase exports while strengthening Egypt’s reputation as a producer of advanced industrial technology.
Supporting Egypt’s Drive for Industrial Localisation
Simplex’s latest investment aligns closely with Egypt’s broader industrial policy, which places strong emphasis on localizing advanced manufacturing and reducing dependence on imported industrial equipment.
For years, manufacturers across Egypt have relied heavily on imported CNC machinery. Producing these machines domestically enables local industries to access advanced equipment more quickly while reducing import costs and strengthening domestic industrial supply chains.
The expansion therefore represents more than corporate growth. It supports national efforts to develop high-value manufacturing industries capable of generating skilled employment, attracting investment and increasing export earnings.
As domestic production expands, Egyptian manufacturers could increasingly source sophisticated machinery locally rather than depending on foreign suppliers, helping improve industrial resilience and long-term competitiveness.
What This Means for Egypt’s Manufacturing Future
Simplex’s expansion illustrates the growing role that homegrown technology manufacturers can play in transforming Africa’s industrial landscape.
With a second factory now operational, construction beginning on a third facility and new commercial partnerships across the Middle East, the company is steadily building the infrastructure needed to compete in international manufacturing markets.
Its ability to scale production, maintain product quality and expand exports will ultimately determine how successfully it competes with established global CNC machinery manufacturers.
For Egypt, however, the significance extends beyond one company’s growth. Investments like this reinforce the country’s ambition to become a regional manufacturing hub.
Egypt could be serving the Middle East, Africa and Europe while demonstrating that advanced industrial technologies can increasingly be designed, manufactured and exported from within the continent itself.
