Top Story: Tanzanian Startup eBeLI AI Bets on Multilingual Artificial Intelligence to Make Quality Education Accessible Worldwide
A 22-year-old Tanzanian entrepreneur is seeking to reshape how people around the world access education through artificial intelligence, unveiling a multilingual learning platform designed to eliminate language barriers and make high-quality educational content available to anyone, anywhere.
Founded by Bell Sugwa, eBeLI AI is positioning itself as an autonomous, multi-modal educational infrastructure capable of generating comprehensive learning materials from a single prompt and delivering them in dozens of languages.
By combining AI-powered content generation with multilingual voice tutoring and automated localisation, the startup hopes to address what its founder describes as “intellectual loneliness”, a challenge faced by millions of learners who struggle to access educational resources in their native languages.
Speaking about the vision behind the startup, Sugwa said traditional online learning platforms have struggled to provide education at scale in diverse local languages.
“Traditional platforms like Duolingo or Coursera are static and expensive to localise. eBeLI provides dynamic, infinite localisation, allowing a student anywhere to learn complex subjects in their native dialect instantly,” he said.
