Hi, welcome to Tech This Evening, an After-Work Tech Newsletter from Techparley Africa. Sure, there is a lot to unpack right now. Sit back, while I walk you through.

Top Story: Egypt’s Startup BrainsMingle Secures $400k to Transform Global Knowledge Sharing

Egyptian startup BrainsMingle, an artificial intelligence-powered, video-first professional networking platform, has secured US$400,000 in strategic seed funding from BasharSoft Group. This marks a significant milestone in its ambition to redefine how professionals connect, share expertise and build meaningful careers worldwide.

The investment, announced by the company, comes as BrainsMingle continues to gain international traction, having already attracted professionals and communities from more than 90 countries.

Founded by Belal Amin and Yousef Gamal, the platform is positioning itself as a next-generation alternative to conventional professional networking platforms by placing authentic human interaction, rather than endless content consumption, at the centre of professional engagement.

The funding also represents BasharSoft Group’s first strategic investment since acquiring iCareer last year, underscoring the company’s confidence in BrainsMingle’s vision of creating a unified platform where professionals can teach, learn, network and monetise their expertise.

“We built BrainsMingle around one belief: the most valuable professional moments happen between people, not between people and content,” co-founder Belal Amin said

Launch Africa Exits Peach Payments Investment as 27four Nebula Fund Bets on African Fintech Growth

Pan-African venture capital firm Launch Africa Ventures exited its investment in South African fintech company Peach Payments through a secondary share sale to the 27four Nebula Fund.

The transaction records a notable shift in the continent’s startup financing landscape, demonstrating how early-stage investors can realise returns before a company is acquired or goes public, while creating an entry point for institutional investors seeking exposure to established, high-growth technology businesses.

Industry stakeholders maintain that the deal not only reflects Peach Payments’ continued growth but also highlights the increasing importance of secondary transactions in strengthening Africa’s venture capital market by recycling capital into new startups and expanding investment opportunities across the ecosystem.

Launch Africa Ventures, one of Africa’s most active early-stage investors with investments in more than 180 startups, first backed Peach Payments during the company’s seed financing round in 2021.
