Hi, welcome to Tech This Evening, an After-Work Tech Newsletter from Techparley Africa. Sure, there is a lot to unpack right now. Sit back, while I walk you through.

Top Story: South African AI Startup HyperDev Raises $1M Pre-Seed Funding as User Base Nears 100,000

South African generative artificial intelligence (AI) startup, HyperDev, has secured over US$1 million in pre-seed funding from a network of venture capital investors across Europe and the United Kingdom. This marks a significant milestone for the fast-growing software development platform as it approaches 100,000 users.

The investment comes at a time when AI-assisted coding is reshaping software development worldwide, with businesses, developers and entrepreneurs increasingly relying on large language models (LLMs) to accelerate the creation of digital products.

Rather than competing solely on code generation, HyperDev is positioning itself as a platform that addresses the often-overlooked challenge of transforming AI-generated code into fully functional software.

Its founders believe the industry’s biggest hurdle is no longer writing code but ensuring that the generated code works efficiently in real-world applications.

“Every AI coding tool on the market was built on the assumption that generating code was the hard part,” said Piotr Sobolewski, Chief Technical Officer and Co-Founder at HyperDev. “We built HyperDev because we knew the hard part was what came after, and nobody else seems to be solving that.”

Dubizzle Group Invests in Takeem to Expand UAE Rental Protection Ecosystem

Dubizzle Group has announced a strategic investment in UAE-based property technology (proptech) startup Takeem, marking another significant step in its ambition to build a more connected, secure and technology-driven rental ecosystem across the United Arab Emirates.

Through the partnership, Bayut and dubizzle, the Group’s flagship property platforms, will become the exclusive property portals for Takeem’s Rental Guarantee solution in the UAE. This will give landlords and property professionals access to a service designed to protect rental income against tenant payment defaults while also providing emergency maintenance coverage.

The investment, made through Dubizzle Group Ventures, comes shortly after the company’s strategic investment in rental payments platform Tern, reinforcing its broader strategy of integrating property search, rental payments, financial protection and trust into a seamless digital experience.

According to Dubizzle Group, the partnership aims to make the rental process “more trusted, more transparent and more dependable for everyone involved.”
