For many service businesses, losing a loyal customer rarely happens overnight. Instead, the warning signs often emerge gradually through subtle changes in booking habits that can easily go unnoticed until revenue begins to decline.

It is this challenge that Nigerian-founded startup StableKlin is seeking to address with the launch of a behavioural intelligence platform designed to help cleaning companies identify early signs of customer disengagement.

Rather than focusing solely on operational functions such as bookings, invoices and payments, the platform analyses customer behaviour over time to detect patterns that may indicate a weakening relationship.

According to founder Dehinde Sogbanmu, the objective is to provide business owners with actionable insights before customer attrition becomes a financial problem.

“Customers rarely announce that they are leaving. More often, they start booking less frequently, delay appointments, become less predictable, or quietly drift away over time,” he explained.

Turning Customer Behaviour Into Actionable Business Intelligence

StableKlin is built around the idea that understanding customer behaviour is just as important as managing day-to-day business operations.

While most business management platforms keep records of transactions and appointments, StableKlin goes a step further by examining how customers interact with a business over time.

The platform analyses factors such as a customer’s typical booking frequency, the time elapsed since their last appointment, changes in scheduling patterns and the consistency of their engagement.

Using these behavioural indicators, it flags customers whose activities begin to deviate from their historical patterns, allowing business owners to intervene before they are permanently lost.

Sogbanmu illustrated the concept with a practical example, noting that if a customer who typically books a cleaning service every four weeks suddenly goes three months without making another booking, it may signal more than a temporary delay.

“The goal is to give business owners greater visibility into customer stability so they can take action earlier, strengthen retention, and reduce the risk of losing valuable repeat business,” he said.

A Solution Inspired by Real Business Experience

The idea behind StableKlin emerged from Sogbanmu’s experience running Potteries Prime Cleaning, a cleaning company based in the United Kingdom. As he managed recurring customer relationships, he noticed a recurring pattern that traditional management software failed to highlight.

Rather than disappearing abruptly, many customers gradually reduced their engagement over time. Booking intervals became longer, appointments became less consistent and customer interactions steadily declined before the business experienced any noticeable impact on revenue.

Reflecting on that experience, Sogbanmu said, “As I worked with recurring customers, I noticed a pattern, customers rarely disappeared overnight. In most cases, there were subtle behavioural changes beforehand. Booking intervals became longer, routines became less consistent, and engagement gradually declined before revenue was affected.”

He added that while numerous software solutions existed to streamline operational processes, very few were specifically designed to understand and interpret customer behaviour itself.

Building Lean While Validating the Market

StableKlin is currently self-funded and is being developed using a lean startup approach that prioritises solving a clearly defined customer problem before expanding the product with additional features or infrastructure.

According to Sogbanmu, one of the company’s most significant achievements has been transforming an observation made while operating a cleaning business into a functional software platform capable of analysing customer behaviour.

He explained that the platform already features a working dashboard capable of identifying deviations from normal booking patterns and generating behavioural insights that may indicate customer drift.

Alongside product development, StableKlin has also begun engaging directly with cleaning business owners, founders and industry stakeholders while publishing educational content around behavioural intelligence for service businesses.

“At this stage, the focus remains on learning, refining the product and ensuring that the insights generated are genuinely useful to the businesses it is designed to serve,” Sogbanmu said.

The startup is currently inviting cleaning business operators and other recurring service providers to test the platform and provide practical feedback that will shape future development.

Starting With Cleaning, But Looking Beyond

Although StableKlin’s immediate focus is the UK cleaning industry, the founder believes the underlying technology has far wider commercial applications.

Sogbanmu said he chose the UK cleaning market because of his direct operational experience and understanding of the industry’s dependence on trust, consistency and long-term customer relationships. Those characteristics make it an ideal environment for behavioural analysis and customer retention tools.

Looking ahead, however, StableKlin aims to extend its behavioural intelligence model into other industries where recurring customer relationships are equally critical.

These include facilities management, maintenance services, home services, care-related businesses and other sectors where retaining existing customers is often more valuable than constantly acquiring new ones.

Talking Points

StableKlin addresses a genuine but often overlooked business challenge by shifting attention from operational management to behavioural intelligence, enabling service providers to identify early signs of customer churn before they translate into lost revenue.

This proactive approach could significantly improve customer retention, especially in industries that depend on recurring business, while encouraging data-driven decision-making rather than reactive interventions.

However, the platform’s effectiveness will ultimately depend on the accuracy of its behavioural models and whether businesses act on the insights it generates.

Customer behaviour can change for many reasons beyond dissatisfaction, including financial constraints, relocation or seasonal factors, meaning false positives could occur if the analysis lacks context.

In addition, StableKlin’s current focus on the UK cleaning sector limits its immediate market reach, although it provides a strong testing ground.

If the startup successfully validates its predictive capabilities and adapts them across multiple recurring service industries, it could carve out a valuable niche in customer intelligence software with broad commercial relevance.
