Orodata Science, in partnership with Open Cities Lab, has launched a new platform called MyCandidate ahead of the upcoming Nigerian general elections.

With the presidential candidates dominating the news space, MyCandidate aims to provide Nigerians with information on all candidates running for office, including those at the parliamentary and sub national levels.

The platform features two key functions: ‘Locate me’ and ‘Address search’, allowing users to access information on candidates at all levels and in all states.

The platform, additionally, includes an embed code that can be used to add the platform’s content to other websites.

Described as an open source organ, the platform relies on information from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and verified sources in the media.

The Orodata team designed it to close the knowledge gap between voters and candidates, while also supporting journalists and civil society organizations in tracking the progress of candidates after the elections.

Uche Oti, the program lead, emphasized the success of MyCandidate during its pilot phase in South Africa and believes it will have a significant impact on voters’ knowledge and decision-making in Nigeria.

He encourages all citizens to use the platform to make informed choices about who will lead the country for the next four years.

As a company dedicated to empowering people and institutions through data usage, Orodata Science’s MyCandidate platform is a critical resource for Nigerians looking to make their voices heard in the 2023 Nigerian general elections.
