Mr President’s 1-Year Renewed Hope Milestones in the Ministry of Interior under the leadership of Hon. (Dr.) Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo
1. Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB)
Expedition of promotion exercise to avoid career stagnation of officers under the ministry, and the approval of welfare packages including peculiar allowance and life insurance for officers.
Promotion of over 32,000 personnel across agencies under the Ministry in 2023, setting a new record for the board as its all time high.
Introduction of a streamlined recruitment workflow for transparency.
2. Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS)
Decongestion of correctional facilities by raising over N600M from corporate organisations to pay off fines of 4000+ inmates held in custody over their inability to pay fines, saving the government N1bn on feeding of inmates annually.
Renovation and remodelling of custodial facilities across the country with 10 completed centres, and others in the pipeline.
Commencement of Correctional Service Audit including personnel audit, inmates audit and infrastructure audit.
3. Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS)
Clearance of over 200k passport backlogs in less than 3-weeks.
Full automation of the passport enrolment system where applicants can upload all supporting documents, ensuring comfort and enhancing national security.
Commissioning of new patrol vehicles to secure the Nigerian borders.
Deployment of technology across Nigeria’s vast borders (land, air, and marine) to enhance border surveillance, border governance, and border management.
Design, development, and completion of a cutting-edge Tier-4, 1.4 Petabytes capacity data centre.
Design and installation of e-Gates across all international airports, and a complimentary state-of-the-art command and control centre with an interactive APR/PNR system as attested to by IATA.
Boosting credibility of the Nigerian passport by integrating with ICAO’s PKI/PKD for global acceptance.
4. Federal Fire Service (FFS):
Commissioning of Fire Engine and Rapid Response Vehicles to enhance the operational capabilities of the agency.
Laying of the foundation for the remodelling of the National Fire Academy Sheda, in Abuja to become the premier fire academy in West Africa.
Reduction of emergency response time to below 15 minutes across the country, with a new target to further reduce it to below 5 minutes.
5. Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC)
Provision of policy direction to ensure the agency carry out its mandate.
Inauguration of Mining Marshal to protect mining sites across the country, and the empowerment of Agro Rangers to protect farmers and their investments from attacks.
Commissioning of a fleet of operational vehicles for the Service to enhance patrol and surveillance around critical national assets.
Promotion of the Safe Schools Initiative to continue its legacy towards the safety of school children.
