Hi, welcome to Tech This Evening, an After-Work Tech Newsletter from Techparley Africa. Sure, there is a lot to unpack right now. Sit back, while I walk you through.

Top Story: South African AI Startup Cue Secures $5M to Accelerate Autonomous Customer Service Platform Expansion

South African customer service technology startup, Cue, has secured US$5 million in fresh funding to accelerate the development of its artificial intelligence-powered customer service platform.

The investment, which was co-led by Knife Capital and FAM Investments, comes at a time when organisations are looking beyond traditional chatbots toward more sophisticated AI systems that can manage entire customer conversations across multiple digital channels.

According to the company, the new capital will enable it to strengthen its product offerings, expand into international markets, and deepen investments in voice technology, enterprise integrations, and security capabilities.

Commenting on the milestone, Cue Chief Executive Officer, Richard Nischk, described the funding as a significant moment in the company’s growth journey.

“It’s an exciting time of transformation for the company,” Nischk said. “We’re at an inflection point for AI in customer service, and we see more businesses starting to realise that they need a unified platform to succeed, not a patchwork of point solutions.”

Nigerian Startup ShoppersBag Joins FasterCapital’s EquityPilot Programme to Scale Eco-Friendly Retail Technology

Nigerian sustainability-focused startup, ShoppersBag, has been selected for FasterCapital’s EquityPilot programme, a move expected to strengthen its retail technology platform, improve campaign execution, and accelerate partnerships with brands seeking data-driven sustainability initiatives.

The selection places ShoppersBag among innovative startups receiving hands-on support from FasterCapital, a global venture builder and online incubator known for co-founding and co-funding promising startups.

According to the company, the first 30 to 60 days of the programme will focus on refining campaign workflows, testing in-store tracking integrations, and preparing reporting assets that enable brand partners to measure the effectiveness of their campaigns.

The development is expected to position the Nigerian startup for stronger market adoption as businesses increasingly seek technology solutions that combine environmental sustainability with customer engagement.

The programme will specifically focus on “execution milestones that refine campaign workflows, test in-store tracking integrations, and prepare reporting assets for brand partners,” said ShoppersBag.
