Hi, welcome to Tech This Evening, an After-Work Tech Newsletter from Techparley Africa. Sure, there is a lot to unpack right now. Sit back, while I walk you through.

Top Story: Ugandan Startup Tyms AI Launches Human-First AI Platform to Help Businesses Work Smarter, Not Harde.

Ugandan technology startup, Tyms AI, has unveiled a new human-first artificial intelligence platform designed to help medium-sized and large businesses streamline operations, improve productivity, and reduce the burden of repetitive tasks across key departments.

The platform combines AI-powered software with intelligent digital agents capable of handling routine work in areas such as finance, sales, marketing, customer service, compliance, and administration, allowing employees to focus on higher-value responsibilities that require human judgment and expertise.

At a time when artificial intelligence is increasingly being positioned as a replacement for human workers, Tyms AI is taking a markedly different approach. The company says its technology is built on the belief that people, not machines, remain the driving force behind business success.

“Our mission is to empower humanity to do its best work,” said Allan Rwakatungu, co-founder and CEO of Tyms AI. “I’m an entrepreneur from a developing country, and I believe business is the catalyst for progress. We built Tyms to help businesses around the world do their best work, with AI handling the drudgery and humans focused on the work that actually matters.”

Nigerian Startup StudyCrew Bets on AI, Gamification to Tackle Student Motivation and Learning Challenges

Founded in 2025 by cybersecurity student Josiah Dhev, the platform combines AI tutoring, gamified learning experiences, study streaks, progress tracking, and social learning tools to help students develop stronger study habits and improve academic outcomes.

StudyCrew is positioning itself as a solution that focuses not only on delivering educational content but also on addressing the deeper challenges of motivation, consistency, and habit formation.

According to Dhev, the idea was born from personal experiences and observations about the difficulties many students face in maintaining discipline in their learning journeys.

“It started as a personal idea to solve motivation and consistency issues in student learning and has since grown into a structured product currently in development with a small founding team focused on product, growth, and community,” Dhev said.
